Slumdog Millionaire wins Best Picture. Of course it did! Wins in 8 out of 9 nominated categories.
Props to Sean Penn for calling out Mickey Rourke during his acceptance speech.
MICKEY ROURKE WAS ROBBED!!!! Sean Penn wins Best Actor for Milk. A great performance, but MICKEY ROURKE WAS ROBBED!!!!
Kate Winslet wins Best Actress for The Reader. Well deserved, and about time she won for something.
I think Sophia Loren was done by the same visual effects artists that worked on Benjamin Button...
Slumdog has won in every category it was nominated except Sound Editing. 7 total wins tonight. Make that 8 when it wins Best Picture.
Danny Boyle wins Achievement in Directing for Slumdog Millionaire. Was there any doubt?
Personally, Waltz With Bashir didn't resonate with me. Interesting vision, but I think it's overrated. The Class is a much better film.
Wow - Departures wins Best Foreign Language Film of the Year over Waltz With Bashir AND The Class? Surprising...!
"Jai Ho" (Slumdog Millionaire) wins Original Song. Definitely agree - great song. Who can resist the big Bollywood ending? :-)
Slumdog wins another one - Original Score.
Slumdog Millionaire wins for Achievement in Film Editing. Absolutely agree. We'll be seeing more of this film tonight! :-)
Achievement in Sound Mixing goes to Slumdog Millionaire - that one surprised me!
The Dark Knight wins for Achievement in Sound Editing. I would have given it to WALL-E - so much of that film was just sound effects.
Achievement in Visual Effects goes to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Absolutely agree - it was amazing in that respect.
P.S. Alan Arkin - his name is Philip Seymour Hoffman. :-)
Smile Pinki for Best Documentary Short Subject. Didn't see any of these, but now I know where to start...
Best Documentary Feature win for Man on Wire. Absolutely agree, but Trouble The Water needs to be seen by more people.
Heath Ledger wins for Best Supporting Actor. No surprise there, and well deserved. R.I.P.
Spielzeugland (Toyland) wins Best Live Action Short Film. Not the best IMO, but a can't-miss for a win.
Slumdog Millionaire for Achievement in Cinematography. I thought The Dark Knight would grab this one - it was the best shot film IMO.
Achievement in Makeup goes to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - another given.
Costume Design - The Duchess. Pretty much a given - period pieces are favorites for this category.
Art Direction - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. That one was a toss-up, but I picked it right!
Best Animated Short Film - La Maison En Petits Cubes. Good film, but I figured Pixar would sweep both categories. Oh well...
WALL-E wins Best Animated Feature Film of the Year. Easy to call that one - no dark horse in that race!
Win #1 (of many...) for Slumdog Millionaire - Adapted Screenplay.
No surprise on Original Screenplay - Milk.
Can't argue with Penelope Cruz winning Best Supporting Actress, but I would've given it to Viola Davis.
Oscars time!!!
Going to see "Waltz With Bashir" and "The Class".

Just read that the nominated shorts are going to be on iTunes on 2/17. Excellent!
Live shorts pick - torn between 'Auf der Streck' and 'Manon on the Asphalt'.
Make that the Oscar nominated *animated* shorts. Live action up next.
Just saw the Oscar nominated shorts. My pick is 'Le Maison en Petits Cubes' with close 2nd to 'This Way Up".

A few years ago, iTunes Store released the live & animated Oscar shorts for sale just ahead of the Oscars. Really wish they'd do it again.
There's something very liberating about knowing that you have no problem firing a problem customer.
Amazon's Kindle 3 should be a partnership with Sony. Amazon handles the service, Sony handles the hardware. The perfect eBook reader.
I'm not sure what my expectations were of Amazon's Kindle 2, but I know that what was released didn't come close to meeting them.

3rd session with a trainer today. Never thought I'd make it this far, but I actually look forward to it!
Google Latitude is interesting, but it makes my WinMo phone screen stay on when running in the background. Battery killer bug!
